Problems installing SQLServer 2000 Developer Edition on Windows XP Pro

Hello!

When trying to install SqlServer 2000 Developer (as Administrator) on my
Windows XP Professional I get the following message at the point where
the system asks Local Account or Domain account:

The logon account cannot be validated for the SQL server service. Verify
that the user name and password entered are correct. The logon attempt
failed.

Anyone an idea what goes wrong here?

Thanks for your info.

Daniel

Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!Make sure that the account you are providing has the "log on as
service" rights to local machine. After you verified that you didn't
make a typo entering the login. :-)

Problems installing MSDE Desktop SP3a SQL server

Hi,
I'm trying to install MSDE Desktop SP3a SQL server on my Windows 2000 Professional Laptop.
Every time I try it nearly finishes the installation and then just rollsback.
Can anyone help? Is this a known issue?
Thanks in advance,
JockyHave you tried using the verbose logging switch when you install? You need to add something like this to the setup.exe you are running fromthe commandline:
/L*v c:\msde_install.log

|||The following article might help you setup MSDE from command line.

That Microsoft article did the trick. Thanks y'all!

Jocky.

Did you install SQL Express? There is no Management Studio in the setup, download it separately from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C243A5AE-4BD1-4E3D-94B8-5A0F62BF7796&DisplayLang=en

|||Also the management tools in SQL Server 2005 require that IE 6 be installed, and this is not installed by default on Windows 2000 operating systems. If you could, would you mind posting the contents of the Summary.txt file located in %programfiles%\microsoft sql server\90\setup bootstrap\log?|||Well when i tried to install the sql server 2005 my windows 2000 have SP4 and all the prerequisites that are necessary to do it. The problem is that the sql 2005 instance is having problems o install. I can't get in to sql server 2005. The installation doesn't have any problem because it finish but when i begin to install is when i have problems
