Hi - I've been posting this in the aso.net forums, but I seem to have
stalled in there.
I have SQL Server Express 2005, and .net running on a windows 2000
server, remote server on my network. SQL Express and IIS/the web
application need to run on the same box.
I can get these to run locally through the internal webserver in
VS2005/Express, but when I deploy them to the remote server - I can't
connect to the database file - which is on exactly the same box. I
either get the cannot attach database, as it already exists, login for
user fails, or connected but no instance on the other end type errors
(please see http://forums.asp.net/1215828/ShowPost.aspx for my posts).
What I would ideally like is guidance on:
If I uninstall SQL Express 2005, and do a clean install, with mixed mode
authentication, is there a step by step guide anywhere which will advise
how to:
a) setup a new user from within SSME
b) whether to attach the database file or not
c) which section of SSME to change to allow the user to connect to the
local (database is on the same remote server as IIS) database - whether
in Security/Logins or Database/Properties
d) advise a connection string which would work given the above steps#
Thanks for any help here - I'm not a DBA, and don't have access to one.
Thanks, Mark
