Problems connecting to MSDE from client.

Error message: SQL Server not found or access denied.
We have installed our SW on a network with 8 clients. I runs fine on all but
1 client. This client is running Win 2000 and has 3 network cards installed
to be shared by 3 networks.
We use SQL auth. I have run CLICONFG on the client and enabled Names pipes
and TCP as they are on the server with the same port nr.. Our SW loads
correctly from the server so there is connection. I have also pinged the
server.

Problems Connect a Network Drive with SQL Server Agent

Hello
I have MS SQL 7.00.1094 on NT 4.0
When I connect a Network Drive (net use.../User:local User
on Remote System) with SQL Server Agent I cannot access
this.
If I take the same command on the desktop (Command Shell)
the access is o.K.
The SQL Server Agent is started with the same Account as I
logged on locally.
Even I connect a network drive z.B. U: local, I can not
access this from SQL Server Agent though is the same
global user.
But this Problem exist only 7 days ago.

MartinDid someone add a proxy account to the SQL agent? Go to Enterprise Manger
and check the properties for SQL server agent | Job System tab. You should
verify then that you can map the drive with the proxy account.

Problems coneccting to BDE administrator

The sql server and bde administrator are in the same pc. I
am not in network when I want to get connecting althought
BDE it is not possible.What error do you get? Can you connect to the SQL Server from Query
Analyzer or OSQL (is BDE the only problem)?

Problem written with few words... come and read

I've created an alias of my computer name
with the Network client utility
Computer name : SCG59730
Instance name : Mercure
Alias : MyProject
When I try to register this new server (MyProject\Mercure)
SQL Server doesn't find the serverI think you should simply register with the alias alone:
MyProject
not MyProject\Mercure
.. although I have not used it very much.|||In fact I wanted to create an Alias
to avoid using the Machine Name in the connection string

but I FINALLY found the of creating my local server in
the Enterprise Manager

the name of the server must be

(LOCAL)\INSTANCENAME

Problem with win2000 and xp seeing the server

I have sql server 8.0 installed on my win2000 machine and a xp machine trying to access that server. I have my network connected through a linksys router. I can connect to the internet but can not access the server.

Not clear. Did you mean the WinXP client cannot access the SQLServer in
Win2000? If so, what is the error?
